MORE USEFUL BOOK DOWNLOADS FROM ALF

There are several more e-books available for free download on the Australian Lapidary Forum (ALF) site.

I compiled this booklet on the Kingsgate Mines, near Glen Innes, when I first came to live in the town in 1988. It summarises what I could find out about each individual mineralised “pipe” and includes a guide to identifying the most abundant minerals of the many to be found at Kingsgate. Quotations from historical sources are also included. For those who do not know, Kingsgate has been a major source of fine mineral specimens; however much of the mining field is at present closed to the public.

The document “Where Are Sapphires Found” dates from 1991 and was prepared to give to enquirers at the Visitor Information Centre in Glen Innes. It also includes a guide to mineral identification.

The Geology of the Shoalhaven Shire” summarises my research in that district and was published by the Shoalhaven Shire Council early in 1968. The book has been out-of-print for many years and I have seen copies for sale on the Internet for more than my weekly salary in 1968! You can have an electronic copy for free.

Field Geology of the Shoalhaven District” was an outcome of the previous book and was ready to be published in 1970 when the publishing firm folded. Its subsequent history is outlined at the beginning of the e-book. The text has not been updated and the maps and diagrams have been lost, however I have added many photographs to at least partly compensate for their loss. It should be of considerable value to rock, fossil and mineral collectors.I would be delighted to see copies of the book spread far and wide so that a new generation can experience the places and specimens I did all those years ago..
It now forms a separate Blog in my Blog collection.

To download these books, go to this site and select the title(s) you wish to obtain. http://www.aussiesapphire.com/ALF_Storage/ Sorry, you can't download them there any more. I will publish them here as new blogs shortly.

Happy reading!
